Welcome to The Pittsburgh Neighborhood Project’s Pittsburgh Neighborhood Need Map (PNNM), our updated follow up to the Pittsburgh Neighborhood Disadvantage Map. The PNNM has been updated using the 2020 American Community Survey five-year estimates and by using population data from the 2020 Decennial Census. 

Place matters in determining a variety of long-term outcomes for children and The Pittsburgh Neighborhood Project’s mission is to educate Pittsburghers on the causes, consequences and persistence of racial and economic segregation in Pittsburgh’s neighborhoods. and bring attention to the neighborhoods and their residents most in need of sustained, equitable and comprehensive investment.
